Anointing of the Sick

The Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick is the Church's prayer for healing for those who are ill, anticipating a medical procedure, or for those who are in the final phases of their earthly life. However, it should never be associated only with those who are dying. If possible, it should be received in the presence of the family in the home, at church, or in the hospital room. This sacrament can be received multiple times if necessary. Notify the Parish Office so that one of our priests can come out and celebrate this sacrament with you. (708-771-8250)

Occasionally we will have a communal celebration of the Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick in church. It is available to all who have chronic illnesses or ongoing medical conditions. It is an opportunity for the entire parish community to pray for all of the sick. It is recommended for the elderly and all those in frail health. There is no limit to the number of times this sacrament can be received.

Hospital Visits

Our priests, deacons, and Ministers of Care regularly visit parishioners who are hospitalized. For those wish to receive a pastoral visit, go to confession, receive Holy Communion, or the Sacrament of Anointing, arrangements can be made with a hospital’s Pastoral Care office.

Due to the Patient Privacy Act, hospitals can no longer notify a parish when its parishioners are hospitalized. Family members should notify the parish so that the priests and staff can reach out to your loved one during the time of their hospitalization. Call the Parish Office when a family member is hospitalized so that we can arrange a pastoral visit.  at 708-771-8250.
